Resumen
Fifty million people live, work, suffer, enjoy, sing and pray in Spanish in the United States of America. Contrary to what Samuel Huntington claims, that the American Dream can only be dreamt in English, Hispanics show that the American dream is also possible in Spanish with its Hispanic culture. The challenge of USA in the twenty-first century is to make its motto "E Pluribus Unum” come true, the Hispanics being privileged players in the construction of this utopia of the New Civilization. About 66% of Hispanics voted in November 2008 for Obama, as a ―long-awaited Messiah." But what is the reality in 2010? "Have these hopes been broken? In the demonstrations of March 21, 2010 in Washington and the marches of May 1st 2010 in 70 U.S. cities, cries were well expressed: "We came here to sweat, we are not criminals!" "Obama, listen, people are in the fight "," Immigration Reform Now "," Yes we can! ―

Tomás Calvo Buezas
Tomás Calvo Buezas (Tornavacas 1936) es Catedrático Emérito de Antropología Social de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Presidente Fundador del Centro de Estudios sobre Migraciones y Racismo. Ex –Presidente de la Federación Internacional de Estudios de América Latina y del Caribe. Estudios universitarios en la Complutense de Madrid, en Salamanca, en Lovaina (Bélgica), California y Nueva York. Ha sido Representante de España en la Comisión Europea de la Lucha contra el Racismo del Consejo de Europa. Ha realizado investigaciones y publicaciones abundantes sobre minorías étnicas, inmigrantes, educación intercultural, hispanos en EE UU, racismo y xenofobia. Ha impartido Conferencias en todos los países de América Latina, en EE UU y en varios países europeos, habiendo organizado varios simposios (internacionales) sobre migraciones y sobre América Latina. Ha recibido significativos premios, como el Premio Nacional de Investigación sobre minorías étnicas, Premio Hidalgo junto al Premio Nobel Günther Grass, Placa de Honor en la Lucha contra el Racismo, Premio Culturas 2000 (Extremadura) Premio de Solidaridad con los Inmigrantes y Galardón por la contribución a la ―Convivencia Hispano-Marroquí‖., Premio ―Tolerancia‖ de la Asociación de Derechos Humanos de Extremadura.
